whoa, been a while (again)

Geez, I press the "post" button and then step away, and suddenly MONTHS have flown by! I check LiveJournal almost every day, so it's weird to see that it's been so long since I've written here. Combination of not much to say/not much time to say it when I do, I guess.

It's a little sad that spambots are so active here on LJ now. I'm trying to stay positive and not regard it as a sign of a dying platform. It's just that I remember a time when I'd have to read page after page of my friends list to keep up, and now I can forget to check LJ for a few days and there will only be a couple new posts. Kudos and thank you, regular updaters, for soldiering on!

I might just be getting nostalgic in general though. Remember when LJ didn't have the auto-save draft function, and you could lose a super long entry that you'd been writing up by accidentally hitting the back button? Or when hetalia had about 23,476,901 entries made per day? Or awesome memories like when kc_anathema was publicly blacklisted (because of some ridiculous brouhaha, I'm not even sure what it was about anymore) and a bunch of people started to follow her journal and that of other people on her friends list (including me) in retaliation? Or when all of us awesome Hetalia fans in New Mexico gathered together and held our first Hetalia Day? Good times.

Well, fandom-wise, I'm looking forward to the Metalocalypse "Rock Opera" coming up. I'm up for anything. Just pleeeeeease do not let Toki be dead. Come on, man. Not Toki! I will be inconsolable for a while. There was some confusion about whether or not a complete fifth season will be coming up as well? I hope there will be one. The fact that Jon Schnepp will not be a part of it gives me pause, but on the whole I just want more Metalocalypse. I'm not ready for it to be over. And please head on over here for another concert. Those are my demands. :P

I've gotten into the CBS show The Mentalist lately. It's been around forever, but once I actually gave it a try (and noticed that Simon Baker is pretty cute and plays his character to perfection), I thought it was REALLY good and underrated. It has the underlying mythology and depth that I appreciate in a show. Unfortunately, I'm all caught up on the released DVDs, so I have to wait until the season that just finished airing makes it's way into a boxset. Don't you hate when that happens?

And Dexter ending this season?! Whaaaaaaaat? Noooooooooooooooo. :(

And now, randomly, a few goals I'm working towards right now:

- get a new hobby (it sounds cliche and awful, but really. It's scary when measuring your bookshelves for canvas bins becomes the top item on your to-do list)
- Make more homemade meals, stick to meal planning (getting excited about McDonald's coupons was the last straw)
- complete one home project a month (they pile up way too fast and drive me crazy because I'm impatient)
- read one book per season (monthly was too ambitious, sadly. Haha what has my life become)
- post here more often (I just miss it for some reason)

And now, I am off to bed. Stay safe and happy, everyone.

Ooh, I remember those days of hitting the back button and losing everything, or if my internet would space out just at the moment I clicked the post button, and then get one of those "the page cannot be displayed" messages and lose everything... Good times XD I don't mind that communities don't post a bazillion entries per day anymore because it's hard to keep up with, but yeah, I'd like to see some more personal posts from friends as well! Posting IS like a hobby to me. =3 Do you have anything specific in mind that you want to do, for your new hobby?

Haha, yeah, sometimes the internet would just choose to implode at that moment. How lucky! XD And it was worse with dial-up of course.

Keeping up with a lot of community posts does get a bit annoying, but I like that it shows people are actually out there, excited and contributing fanworks. It's sad when a fandom tapers off and dies out.

I guess that's true, blogging is a hobby! I don't have anything in mind yet...but all my current hobbies are kind of related and indoors type stuff (reading, writing, anime/manga, crafts) so maybe I'll try to think of something outside my comfort zone.

Same here... Wait, does reading books outdoors count...? In that case I have something that's not indoors! X'D But yeah, it's probably really hard to come up with something new, maybe you could try all sort of things and see if you like any of them?

Even if everybody stops posting here I would probably keep it up just as a diary...I like looking over the old entries and seeing how much stuff changed, like the kids!

That is very true! It's neat to go back and see what was going on in your life then. And yeah, how neat to have a more unique record of the kidlet growing up. It might be a fun idea to make your blog into a book (with Blurb or some other site). You can even keep the comments so he can see how many people thought he was adorable! Haha.

How long have you had an LJ?

Ah yes, the fine days of LJ drama. Now I'm lucky that the Russians are taking over the abandoned places community so I have regular updates there. I will say that tumblr is pretty entertaining, but I don't think I'll ever give up the LJ. At least not for several more years.

Yep, aside from specific wank comms, the golden age of LJ drama seems to be over.

That is very awesome. Such a cool opportunity to see abandoned places in a whole other country.

I agree, Tumblr is fun but LiveJournal seems so much more interactive, and underrated. It's comfy here.
